Personally i think Refuge Mera Lodge were the most comfortable guest house among all that we have stayed. Our room size were just nice and have an excellent views of the mountains (facing heli-pad). It was warm and clean enough for me.
I highly recommend their vegetable Dhal Bhat, very nice! Although at this height (4800m), if you are non-highlander, you will start to lose appetite due to the altitude.
What i really wanted to highlight here is their Sherpas. I still remember when i first arrived and met Gylje Sherpa, he briefed us a bit about what is the plan and i was saying something like "hopefully we can summit.... bla bla bla.." then Gylje said "Of course, 100 percent..". The moment i heard that, already boosted my climbing spirit and its very kind response. Geylje speaks very good English too!
We have two Sherpas taking care of us during our climb. Gylje Sherpa and Raza Sherpa. These two were incredible! They set up ropes, they cook, they took care of us, they did everything. Back here in Borneo, im an adventure guide (licensed) as well. I think Gylje was very professionals during our climb. He was very patient towards me even though im very slow (due to diarrhea). 3 times i was about to turn around, but he kept giving me the spirit to continue. I wouldn't've be able to summit if it wasn't because of him. Thank you Gylje Sherpa, Raza Sherpa and Refuge Mera Lodge.
Best "Teahouse" anywhere near there, totally luxurious. They offer a variety of drinks and food and a spacious and nice two rooms to sit and dine in. The wifi is fast (1.000 rupies as everywhere for Everest link) and you can rent gear for Mera Peak there.
I recommend the food, but the pastries are not quite fresh and not that good (we had better apple pie at Basecamp). The pizza we ate had terrible cheese on it, so we stayed away from meals with cheese for the remainder.
Would still recommend it as a place to stay at, just order traditional meals.
